Global Running Day provides us with the opportunity to reflect upon what makes running great and gives us the chance to look back at some of our running stories. We would like to celebrate by sharing a bit about our team at Runderwear and how we've got into running. It's amazing to be a part of this community and we would love to hear from you all! Share your stories with us on social media and comment below - it would be brilliant to hear your running stories.
Richard Edmonds - Co-Founder & CEO
What got you into running?
I started running because, at age 14, I suffered a rugby injury and needed to keep fit. I never once looked back and it's been a huge part of my life for over 20 years!
What's your favourite type of running?
My favourite distance is 5k. I love the mix of the energy systems it takes to run and there is nothing like a Parkrun with the running community!
Where's your favourite place to run?
My favourite place to run is Bradgate Park in Leicestershire. It's near where I grew up and is a beautiful place to run in all seasons.
Jamie Smalley - Co-Founder & Head of Product
What got you into running?
I started running because I wanted a challenge after University and entered the UK Ironman.
What's your favourite type of running?
My favourite distance is marathon distance because it throws up the unexpected and it is always a challenge to get right!
Where's your favourite place to run?
My favourite place to run is on the seafront and promenade - there's nothing better than that!
Emma - Head of Marketing
What got you into running?
I started running when I was 30... I was in a drinking game and someone challenged me to run a marathon.
What's your favourite type of running?
My favourite distance is 10 miles - not so long that you hurt yourself with training miles but some speed is still needed.
Where's your favourite place to run?
My favourite place to run is Hengistbury Head - whether scrambling up the cliff or sticking to the trail.
Jules - Finance Controller
What got you into running?
I finally got into running after working for Runderwear for two years - I was inspired by my colleagues to enter a 10k race as a new year's resolution. I started training and now really enjoy it and run several times a week! With the gyms being closed due to lockdown, it has been an added incentive as it's such a great way to keep fit!
What's your favourite type of running?
10k is my favourite distance - far enough to feel like I've challenged myself but not too far!
Where's your favourite place to run?
My favourite place to run is anywhere near the sea, in the evening, as the sun is setting.
Skye - Marketing
What got you into running?
I started running to stay fit for football and since joining Runderwear, running is now a huge part of my life! The running community, events & races have got me hooked and I can’t get enough.
What's your favourite type of running?
I love running 10k as it offers a variety of challenges; from speed, endurance and changing terrains. A 10k will be different every time and you can really have fun with your route.
Where's your favourite place to run?
Living in Dorset is a blessing because I have the New Forest National Park, the beaches and endless trails along the Jurrasic Coast at my disposal. You'll never get bored running in Dorset. The Maverick Race events in the New Forest are spectacular and the Endurance Life races at Durdle Door are unlike anything else I’ve run before. Dorset is the best place to run in the UK in my opinion!
Dave - Channel Sales Manager
What got you into running?
I started running properly when I joined Runderwear in 2018. I've run the Great South before and play regular football, but joining the team made me want to be part of the running community. I hated missing out on Runches early on! I also wanted to try and get fitter for football at the ripe old age of 33 so I don't get 18-year-olds running rings around me so much!
What's your favourite type of running?
Where's your favourite place to run?
Luke - Head of Operations
What got you into running?
Having not been a particularly sporty child, I didn't really start running until starting at Runderwear.
What's your favourite type of running?
My favourite distance would definitely be a 5k OCR.
Where's your favourite place to run?
I prefer an OCR as it gives you the chance for a breather whilst waiting for your turn for the obstacles.
Molly - Customer Services
What got you into running?
I started running as a hobby whilst I was living in Guildford when I was 19. I would go on runs at the weekend and find new running routes around Surrey. I have loved running ever since.
What's your favourite type of running?
5k is a favourite of mine, I tend to stick to that distance and try to beat my times each run.
Where's your favourite place to run?
My favourite places to run are around Hengistbury Head and Alum Chine!
